-i moved out of the suburbs to los angeles a while ago. now i'm looking for a place of my own as i currently live with four other people, three dogs, and a cat.
-hanging out with old guys that used to be in the la punk scene.
-i watched one of the most amazing and inspiring films EVER the other week (won't mention it yet) and am doing an illustration of it.
-all i do now is post pictures of food porn on my flickr.
-i miss buying cute stuff from japan but i have no money. living here sucks out all of my money.

things i'm excited for:
*i'm going to see the muffs + the zeros (the original mexican ramones) this thursday
*kenneth anger is going to be at the cemetary to show some of his films from the 60s and 70s this sunday!
*traveling this summer to go mushroom hunting

other stuff:
*the world of wonder gallery on hollywood boulevard closed to become a bettie page clothing store
*i spend a lot of my time sleeping with my cat and reading baudelaire and mishima
*i've become fascinated by chinese kitsch and anna may wong over the summer
*i have been feeling bored and exhausted by the heat, but only recently have i started to enjoy myself and it's lovely

Hello,

My apologies for never writing or visiting livejournal. I think I've found new ways to waste my time these days, but I'd like to check back more often. Anyway -

In celebration of RuPaul's new show on Logo (premiering 02 February), an exhibit is being held as a celebration. I did a watercolour portrait of Holly Woodlawn (as seen on the back of Lou Reed's Transformer) which will be on the walls along with some other fabulous work as a tribute to RuPaul, Amanda Lepore, Divine, Lady Bunny, etc. (Photos of my portrait coming soon, I never got an opportunity to photograph it) And yes, I'll be in attendance, along with some other special guests. :P

this is what i've been up to recently for the month of november

one evening i started doodling on a tote bag, here's what happened:

the night before i heard sudden news. i started to debate whether i should see the melvins later that night or not... dylan and i ended up thinking going to amoeba was more important. he signed our stuff, and we asked him a couple silly questions. he's really friendly even if he may seem intimidating... sadly you had to take photos from a distance only. but still! amazing time.

*thanksgiving day, 27 november 2008
my mum and i did thanksgiving volunteer work for an event called gobble gobble give. it's at the echo, a popular venue on sunset blvd. nothing beats packing food and clothing for the homeless to guns n roses and disco music.

*later today, i'm going to watch salo (or 120 days of sodom) by pier paolo pasolini and some short lynch films with dylan. exciting!

*i've been sticking googly eyes on everything since september.. here are some pictures, i'm slowly updating it all:

i have been gone for a long time.. this summer i did a lot..
* trip to vancouver, canada for a week
* saw lesbian vampire movies at the cemetary
* crazy guy at the cemetary fell in love with me, temporarily..
* worked with michael jackson and the tin man
* saw wanda jackson perform, a lot of dancing was done
* went to vietnam for two weeks
and i ended the summer by going with my mum to see brian wilson at the bowl.
my summer was pleasant.. a couple of weeks ago i went through the midwest (mostly missouri and illinois). i miss the crunchy red leaves and all of the rich history. i got to visit old slave cabins and sleep in the forest. now i'm back in california, it's too hot here. halloween is in a few days, and i'm going to celebrate by seeing roky erickson and dia de los muertos is the day after..

my current infatuations & obsessions:
* the delta blues
* chinese and vietnamese propaganda
* dystopian sci-fi novels
* zap comix!
* the tv show carnivale
* urban exploration
* steve buscemi!

i'm drawing a lot and am never on the computer, maybe someday i'll update this journal with artwork. i just wanted to update to let some of you know i'm actually alive. (doing well? i'm not sure, but better than usual)

this is the greatest thing ever, or well, one of the many great things about life:

whether i'm single, married, 16 or 90, i want something like this! so badly! does anyone know if it has a name? "fuzzy animal furniture"? is it by a certain brand? i must find something like this! (best in a cute colour, like cotton candy pink or pretty turqouise)

but if you can/want, please post photos of your room, cute houses, or cute beds, anything relating to interior design!
my room is kind of boring, it has many collages all over (i'm a teenage girl, ok), and piles of clothes, books, and vinyl. but it's always fun and inspiring to look at rooms, work spaces, closets, etc..

i've always been too shy to show off drawings, etc. and i only showed them to certain special people until recently, when i brought a sketchbook to school. i'd draw dumb pictures for my friends and they'd do the same for me, like this one (i drew this shit):

i need to fix my scanner or get a new one

but then i started drawing naked girls in that sketchbook so i don't bring any to school anymore. maybe that's a good thing, all i do is draw now, especially in class, it gets my mind off of things.

i don't know why, but recently i've been finding bunnies lately and taking them home. my favourite so far:

i want to start colouring inked work with colour pencils but i've never used colours in my life, it seems to worry me about using them suddenly

gimme octopus

okay
so i've never fully understood the whole fascination with octopus (or things with tentacles)
anyone care to explain?

maybe i, too, would like octopus, if only i didn't have scary memories of them. i got to be way too paranoid back when i was young.

i'm not as paranoid anymore
but i'm scared of deep water so i don't swim.
also, i seem to enjoy eating fried squid and takoyaki, i think it's because:
01.) it's delicious
02.) i'm trying to end the octopus/squid/tentacle population

i need to change.. so..
please post a buncha photos of octopus/squid (real or fake things, doesn't matter) in the comments so i can face my fear

while i hate it i must admit
this is the cutest cake pan ever!

today lauren, chris, and i were walking home. we went past a house that all three of us really like.
it reminds me of a cute house from a fairy tale on cloudy days... i don't think it looks as good as before (they got rid of trees)
so now you could see what was behind the trees that used to be there..
and chris saw king kong.
so we decided to investigate.

it bothers me how the sky is more of a grey colour, not blue.. it's cos of all of the shit in the sky here. (yukkkkky)

it was up high, so i didn't take a photo with it this time.
sometime soon we plan on going back to take photos with it though.

guh... very exhausted & tired from last night (it's 07:37am)
went to thinkspace to see the new installation from audrey kawasaki, some works from ku kula, etc.
i was too shy to meet audrey though, ~~and couldn't find johnny. (oh well)~~ and johnny got there at 10:30 so i couldn't meet him.
